The Bienenkunde is intended as an oasis of tranquility and a place of relaxation, the perfect setting in which to escape the daily routine.

Between the town center of Lunz and the Lunzer See, on a hilltop overlooking the idyllic mountain village, our guests can truly break away from the outside world.

This was originally the location of an institute for bee research. After the institute closed down, the building underwent renovations from 2015 to 2017, finally opening for our guests in July 2017.

Due to our hillside setting, we enjoy above-average hours of sunshine along with beautiful views of the countryside which surrounds Lunz am See. Our land covers more than 9000 m² of forest and meadows, most of which has been left in its natural state to provide residents and guests alike with a place to escape and re-energize.

Are you looking for a place to unwind, where you can truly appreciate every single hour of your day? We have over 9000 m² of grounds where you can escape the hectic outside world and spend the evenings beneath a starry sky, winding down over a bottle of good wine.

Your dog is also welcome to stay with you at the Bienenkunde, certain to enjoy the strolls you take with him through the neighboring forest.

When you stay in our apartments, you also have the option of booking a regional breakfast. Daily delivery of fresh breakfast rolls from a local baker is also possible.

The Lunzersee is just 800 m from our holiday apartments, easy to reach along a forest path. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll around the lake or stretching out on the swimming beach – the only natural lake in Lower Austria features everything a holidaymaker’s heart could possibly desire.

The idyllic mountain village of Lunz am See is also perfect for all our guests who love to “head for the hills”. All of the surrounding mountains can be hiked with the Bienenkunde as your home base. Whether short, relaxed walks or extended mountain hikes – Lunz am See offers the perfect tour for everyone.
